Fostering international trade between the Chinese and Americans is important for both economies, however it is important to remember that our forests are valuable assets, and must be managed carefully, especially in times of financial desperation. North Carolina’s ginseng resources, heavily coveted in China and elsewhere as a cure all herbal medicinal was nearly wiped out because of high Chinese demand (coupled with very long plant maturation rates).

The state of Pennsylvania has recruited a group of log and lumber buyers from China. They will be attending the IWF show in Atlanta on August 22,23 and24th. After the show the Chinese buyers will be touring part of the east coast.
On Sunday the 26, the buyers will be in Ashville NC for an evening reception. This reception is being sponsored by the State of NC. The purpose is allow sellers of lumber and sawmills to meet a group of Chinese.
On Monday evening, there will be a reception in Greensboro, NC. Same drill.
There is a charge for attending.
Attached is the full schedule of the China Delegation names of the Chinese members and an application to attend.
Free to share this with any log, or lumber vendor who might want to meet with Chinese buyers.
